Why the Pursuit of Perfection Still Matters
No college baseball team has ever gone undefeated on their way to winning the College World Series. That simple fact says a lot about the game, but it also says something bigger about how excellence is measured.
Baseball has a way of exposing every weakness of every team over time. Even the most talented teams are going to lose games. They hit slumps, make errors, and run into week-long stretches where nothing seems to come easy. A long season (60+ games) guarantees adversity. What separates great programs from everyone else is how they respond when that adversity shows up.
The best teams don’t let setbacks define them. They treat each opportunity to take the field with focus, discipline, and a clear standard for how they want to play. They chase perfection knowing they’ll never fully reach it, but that mindset is often what keeps them moving forward.
That same principle applies in self-funded benefits.
